the challenge is finding the words to eloquently corresponds to the imagery of the story: emotions, attituds, and views from then, not a reflective look but an authentic view from then: can I remember: and the words that will drive the story:
I am using the Excel spreadsheet to create my storyboard. I agree that it may seem to be a long, tedious step, but I definitely think it helps you get organized. I work best when there is some sort of order or plan laid out and I know I'll be glad I did a storyboard when it comes time to put everything together. For the project as a whole, I feel pretty good about it. I can picture the end product in my mind, I just hope that I can find the right images that I'm looking for.
I am currently in the process of obtaining photos I will need from family members to complete my project. Staying with our theme, baseball, my project will be on my grandfather's LOVE of baseball, and the Houston Astros. I will use the storyboard to organize my thoughts and images for the completed project.
I have posted my Engines of Ingenuity project on my blog. Please feel free to check it out and provide feedback.

I am rethinking my idea for the digitial photostory. I think I am going to do the history of a lady that I know that lives in my community. She has lived in the community for fifty years and I think that it would be a great way to preserve the history of Liberty County. I am going to try to sit down with her sometime this week to get an idea of what I want to do.
This assignment was to be about our storyboarding plans and where we are in the process of the digital story! Lambert said it best, “For some, conceiving an idea for a story is an easy process; for others it is the beginning of a crisis.”
I’ve been in crisis for a number of weeks now but put it out of my mind because I have enjoyed learning the software and the processes necessary to get to this point in the class. I have not thought about what I’d say for the digital story ever since the second week when “personal” was brought into it. Even though I do have personal feelings about technology, I keep thinking I should be telling a story about how I got involved or a specific story about getting my mother on board or something that would be personal and passionate, as well as entertaining. I can’t get there! The first draft was not thought through at all, which I’m sure you knew when you read it. And this crisis of conceiving the idea is getting more and more stressful because the time is here now!
I had intended to use the storyboarding software because I love free software and sharing it with others. While sitting and waiting for an oil change and state inspection this weekend, I began mapping out what I’d need for a storyboard, still addressing the evolution of distance learning. Things began to click and I jotted down ideas on what to research and felt fairly good that the storyboard would be better than the first script draft, however still not thinking this was it! That too fell apart! I was able to find some historical information, but no pictures to speak of. I feel again, that this week’s assignment will have been part of the learning process but not really a giant step toward my end result. I envy those Lambert mentioned conceiving their ideas as an easy process! On top of it all, my laptop lost network configuration for my home so I had to use the Mac for the software.
I will have a storyboard for class, and I admit the process did make me think more about the text. I look forward to finally getting my idea and “running” with it. It's all in the process, right?
I used Celtx to create my storyboard. The software is unbelievably easy and I was able to make notations about various photos. Where I did not have the exact photo I put a placeholder using a .pdf turned .jpg. The hardest part was finding all of the images for the storyboard. I still feel like I will need to further research photos that I used in the storyboard because they do not actually fit the image I had in mind.
The most important piece to the equation seems to be the script. As long as you have that, everything else becomes clear. I really had to work with my script to get to a point where I felt like I understood the story. Then after doing the storyboard I see where I will need to better rework the story.
I've uploaded all of this to:

Creating a storyboard helped me to organize my thoughts. Working through this project I reshaped how the pieces were going to fit with the narrative. The process also showed me where I was missing images and made me consider how or by what method I was going to obtain them. So… Mom got a call from her loving son, it looks like I am gong to have to stage a few and then find a helpful assistant to work with me on others. I also discovered that I wanted to change the mood at different points in the story and that I will need to make music shifts during the play through. Storyboarding is a helpful process and will help prevent me from having to make compromises to the final result in the end.
I have chosen to do my storyboard using Word. So far, I have half of my script mapped out in pictures. My script is fairly long with some complex ideas, so I am concerned that I am making a mini-movie because I am using so many photos!! However, while the process is time consuming, I am enjoying being able to play with my photos -- which is a relaxing past-time when I have the luxury of time to sort through them.
Half of the photos I have taken and half are from the web. Hurray for google images!!
I am using Word to develop my storyboard. However, I am finding it difficult to condense my thoughts into a single frame without repeating the intended image. I'm still experimenting though and perhaps my partner may discover an alternative angle.
Creating a storyboard is going to really help get my thoughts together along with making the project flow. Having commercials for a theme is very exciting. I have turned into a critical commercial analysis over the past week as I finalize my presentation for tomorrow night.
Creating the first part of my storyboard was much easier as I though it will be. This is just because I finally was able to write my project script. :-) I followed it and imagined what will represent my text the best way. I am in the process of selecting background music, getting pictures, and creating my slides with text that I am going to use. Writing the script and creating the storyboard takes time but it will make thing easier during the photostory process.
I have used the Excel Spreadsheet to create my storyboard and it really helped me see some mistakes. For example, in my story I talk about 10 books and show the cover of each book and when I did the storyboard I realized I skipped one of them. So, now I have to scan that book, upload it and make a little change to the narration to incorporate it.
My story is not finished yet and I will definetely continue my story using the storyboard as I saw the necessity of it.
Using the Excel Spreadsheet was very easy to create the storyboard. I didn't have any problems. For next time though, I'd like to try to Celtx.
I created my story board the old fashioned way, on sheets of paper, and later transferring those ideas to index cards so I could easily manipulate the order of my story. I find that when I am first beginning any project I like just writing my ideas down, and having the ability to scratch things off, and put in comments , and basically scribble notes to myself that I can’t really do on a computer. Plus, I feel like I am working with something more concrete when I write it all on paper. I am still working on getting more pictures and the interviews for my story together, and deciding what exactly I want to keep and take out, and how much I need to focus the subject of my digital photo story.
To create my storyboard, I used the Additional Storyboard Resource: Blank Template 2.
The template was fairly easy to work with. I was able to insert all my pictures without any errors while adding the design, audio type and narration for my script. I like this template because it helps me to organize my work.
i did my storyboard on index cards: why? because i visual it as a 3 dimensional project: a story does not start and end but can go forward, backward or from the middle: at least, that is how i think: therefore, i need to move the board around and leave gaps as i developed the story. working backwords and forward simulteoneously: on the computer: usually a person will input and find it difficult to see it or edit it in a non linear manner: just my thoughts
this is my first time doing a story board and although it was a long process, it seems to help with the thinking process. I do find it is hard to match the narration with the images, before the story is completed... its hard to find the right words....
After the presentation of Dr. White's class, I can finally have a good sleep and have time to consider what am I going to do in the final project. At the day we discussed about the story board, Dr. Bernard implied that the story I have is not a good idea. I think the problem of mine is that I create a story which I am not familiar with.
Personalized story seems to be the one that I should pay more attention. Now the problem is how to make the story more interesting and engaging. I am good at video editing, but writing a story is really hard for me.
Although my digital story itself is currently a work in progress, the story board definitely helped me to really delve into it and figure out what decisions I need to make in narrowing my topic. It also helped immensely in writing the script. I guess because I am such a visual person, seeing the progression of the digital story helped me to envision the story I want to tell.
In the end, I decided to stick with my original idea of musical experiences enhancing travel, but also go into a discussion of how music affects the brain and emotions
My current challenge is how do I write a script for a project that I am still working on? I have no problem with doing a storyboard to help me with my digital story, but I am just trying to arrange my video clips and photos effectively first. I have began doing a storyboard in handwritten format and in Word.
I also agree with Lora that at times it was difficult to accompany the narration with the right picture. I thought the process itself, however, was really painless. I used powerpoint and put it as handout so it looked somewhat like a storyboard.
Brian's comment that he is in the process of collecting photos to scan reminds me of another issue I realized while creating the story-board. I used a regular (non-digital) camera on the backpacking trip I want to feature in the story, so I have the job ahead of me of going through photos and finding the right one's to scan. Unfortunately, I didn't really take any pictures during most of my musical experiences
Writing the storyboard wasn't as hard as I envisioned. I worried it would be a lot of tedious little boxes to contend with, but I ended up cutting and pasting my script into one of the excel templates provided on the class site. It will help me organize my thoughts and images when I begin organizing my story.
The challenge I'm facing now, is that the story is not finished yet. The painting is in the gallery and I'm waiting to see what will happen in order to continue the story.
well im doing mine on toys and ill be focusing on the three main areas of research in education.i used ppt to story board it and it seems to be coming together nicely.
