which editing features you used
Utilized all of the features: 15 main features
* did the program perform as expected
Yes: it was easy and effective: the results were quick and noticeable
* was the program easy to use
Definitely: easy to upload and save: also a good feature to get (fetch) pictures anywhere including the web-also you can choose the format: jpg, png, gif, or bmp
* did you experience any problems using the program
No, I was able to dl and view my editing picture- it did not have a lasso tool which mean selecting was always squared: this was a problem for blurring and sharpening selected parts like a circle:
* would you use this program again and/or would you recommend this program to others
Yes, easy and fun:
* do you have any other comments you think would be helpful
It would be a great beginners editing tool and quick to do on any computer that is available: streamline to your online photos also. Basic editing tools:

The software that I worked with was splashup.com.

The pros
1. The program had the basic features of photo editing.

2.It was simple to download the picture and work with the tools of the program.

3. The ability to work with the things on the website was easy.

4. I did not have to sign up for any membership.

5. The user could use multiple ways to get pictures. Through facebook, Piaccaso, and other web tools.

The cons
1. It took a long time for the picture to download.Twice it would not let me view the picture I wanted to edit.

2. I thought that it should have more tools with it. It did not have alot of tools like elements.

3. I was furstrated with the time that I had to take to get any pictures to work with the program.

4. The program was user friendly but, it seemed to simply. I would have liked to see more advanced features on their to work with.

5. I did not have to sign up for any membership. But if I wanted to use pictures from facebook, Piacasso and others I had to sign up for service.

I would recommend this site only to those who were new to photo editing. I would not advise someone who has worked with other media programs to use this one.

I used Online Phototool - www.onlinephototool.com

I have to preface this by saying that I don't do all that much photo editing, so I don't have much experience to compare this to. Overall though, I did NOT like this site.

I first tried to use the site with my Mac. There was a problem with JAVA, so I had to use a PC. The PC worked fine, but I did have to update the Java platform, which was a bit annoying.

It was hard to see the whole image on the screen while also keeping the picture in focus. The layout reminded me of Microsoft Paint. The overall appearance seemed dated. I have no idea the purpose of some of the buttons. The ones I did use were crop, brightness/contrast, image effects, and adding text. All but the text function worked well. When I added text I was forced to use fonts typically found in Word. I did not like the way it looked so I ended up not using the text on my photos.

While I am getting ready for the storm coming through I stumbled over another image manipulation site that is rather cool. It just alters faces but it is pretty clever - thought you guys might like it :)

I am using foto flexer. It's ok. At first I was pleased with the overall intuitive nature of the program; uploading was easy, the basic tools like contrast and crop had big-easy-to-read buttons. When I played a little more, I noticed certain shortfalls and limitations. I will have a full review on my blog later. Ike, had me cornered in the neighborhood, just got out from under the trees!

SUMO Paint review
http://www.sumopaint.com/beta/
by Leon
derived from
http://7358-leon-clyu.blogspot.com/2008/09/sumo-paint-review.html

1.User Interface
Click on "view" and select "Enter Full Screen Mode." You may not notice that it's a online editor. The user interface is quite similar to Photoshop. If you have ever use Photoshop, you can get used to SUMO Paint easily.

2.SUMO Filters
You may find some filters, such as brightness/contrast, color balance, hue/saturation and etc, are listed in the "Filter" menu. They are supposed to meet your needs in most graphic editing situations.
Take brightness/contrast for example, it makes no differences whether you use Photoshop or SUMO paint to do this job. But most importantly, SUMO paint is FREE!

3.Performance
Before you edit, upload an image is required. It depends on the speed of your internet service. It takes approximate 25 seconds to upload a 1.67M image, in my case.
The process time of filter is satisfactory. It will not take you too much time waiting the result of the calculation.
you can save your file either in your computer, or on your SUMO account.
I never used this kind of web 2.0 application before, it really surprise me with so many functions available for free. And most advanced strength of online software is that you can access your files anytime, anywhere and share with other people, as long as internet based environment.

4.conclusion
I would suggest everyone to try SUMO paint and keep this website in you bookmark. If you do not have any online album service, you may create a SUMO account to save your images online. Unfortunately, it does not support other online image service such as flicker or picasa so far.
If you are a flicker or picasa user, you may be interested in these application as follows.

I've completed my review of foto flexer http://fotoflexer.com and you can read all about it on my blog

Unfortunately I wasn't able to do a proper before and after photo comparison as there were saving issues with the editing tool.

1. The name and web address of the program.
Snipshot is the name of the program and the web address is http://snipshot.com/

2. Which editing features you used?
I used all the features Snipshot offered such as:

- Resize
- Crop
- Enhance
- Adjust
- Rotate
- Effects

3. Did the program perform as expected?
On a scale of 1 to 10...I will give it a 3 because it did not give me a lot of tools to access while using this program.

4. Was the program easy to use?
Yes, this program was easy to use because it seems as though it is for beginners only.

5. Did you experience any problems using the program?
Yes, I experienced a lot of confusion while trying to use this program for the following reasons:

- To me, this program was out of the ordinary. I was constantly looking for the software to download it to my computer. Come to find out, all I had to do is...open it from the browser on Snipshot webpage, find the picture I want to edit, open it from my computer then start editing it.

- The program had a lot of advertisement on each page. At first, I couldn’t tell whether or not I had to buy the software in order to use it.

- In order to use more features or editing tools, I had to become a member or buy Snipshot Pro for $9.oo per month.

6. Would you use this program again and/or would you recommend this program to others?
I really did not care for this program neither would I recommend it to anyone who’s well advanced in computer technology.

7. Do you have any other comments you think would be helpful?
No comments on this program.

Editing software review:
- address: http://www.photoshop.com/express

-features I used: I tried all the features presented to me, but I am really unsure if I used them correctly or if I even captured the essence of the feature. I played with each feature, but really liked the hue feature and the black and white feature. I am a big fan of black and white....

- did the program perform as expected: I am not sure because I did not know what to expect... it was nice to use an editing software.

- easy to use: ughh for me not really. it took me a while to really get the hang of it and then I am not sure I did.... however, for those who know what to look for I think it could be very useful

- problems: not really, the only question I had was how to view what was being edited...

- use again? yes I would it would give me a chance to get to mess around with something a little more familiar

- recommend: I do....

- questions, comments? maybe not for beginners.....

1. What is the name and web address of the program you are evaluating?
• Picture2Life
• http://www.picture2life.com/

2. Which editing features did you use?
• Quick Fixes
- Shadow
- Sketch
- Oil Paint
- Kuwahara
- Edge (SharkTooth)
- Edge (Rugged)
• One Clicks
- Water
- Swirl
- Color
- Texture
• All
- Border
- Brightness
- Crop
- Hue
- Save
• Collage
- Picture Pile
- Grids
• Animation
- Customize

3. Did the program perform as expected?

The program actually exceeded my expectations. Overall Picture2Life is very simple and intuitive to use. I was able to easily navigate through the various effects and liked the fact that you could apply and then remove the effects simply by clicking the back button or remove.

Another great aspect of the program is that you are able to see the individual effect before choosing it for your photo. Each effect is previewed in the effect menu. So I didn’t have to guess what the effect would look like.

The program allows you to select and save favorite effects, customize effects (by layering them) and save them for your next editing project. This functionality requires a user account.

The Collage feature was very nice. It has 27 different variations users can apply to a grouping of photos that they select out of their uploaded gallery.

The Automation tool (or as Slide Show in most programs) is simple but useful. Users can decide how many times and the size of photos as they loop.

4. Was the program easy to use?

Very easy. Obviously the robustness of a program like Photoshop is not present but everything a person would need for regular photo editing is made available. A couple of things that were missing were Autofix and Red Eye reduction.

5. Did you experience any problems using the program?

When looking for the Autofix I found Sharpen and used this feature. Then backed the change out. When I tried to use it again over another layer, it wouldn’t work. I wasn't able to recreate the problem.

6. Would you use this program again and/or would you recommend this pr program to others?

Definitely. Free, easy to use, with a lot of editing features as well as the ability to collage and animate – why not?

7. Do you have any other comments you think would be helpful?

The program doesn’t require an account – but it is useful if you are going to want to set up favorites or customized effects.

The site allows you to save your edited photo to its server or to sites such as flickr, Facebook or 23. As well you can download the edited photo.

Picture2Life allows users to customize colors and textures as well as add text to photos.

I tried the photo editing program Pixenate found at http://pixenate.com/ and liked it immediately because it was web based! Web based programs are so easy to access for anyone and often sufficient for most people's needs. Faculty and students can use this program on any computer that has an Internet connection and a Browser. There is no sign-up or download necessary!

The program performed pretty much as expected. I have had good luck with web based programs before, such as gifworks.com and shrinkpictures.com. Pixenate didn’t disappoint me. It was easy and did some cute effects, which can aid students with photos for portfolios and other projects. I’m a basic user of editing software and I would use Pixenate if I didn’t have PhotoShop and already accustomed to features such as the use of layers.

For a free web based photo editing program, I was impressed and would recommend it to others. Pixenate is quick and easy and easily accessible on the web.

Pixenate had basic features having to do with cropping, color and brightness but had Fun Effects, which weren’t as silly and useless as I had expected. PhotoShop has different types of filters etc. but these effects were different and possibly more exciting and purposeful for students. A Lomo Tool – adds a halo and makes colors more vivid, Oil Painting – makes the photo appear to be an oil painting, Create a Warhol-esque Pop Art Poster, adding text to photos and rounding corners, as well as a few silly ones such as adding snow flakes and available clipart.

I only experienced one problem while using Pixenate and it ended up being “user error.”:)

Other Features:
• Can browse for a photo on the computer or from a camera
• Allows photos to be edited within Facebook
• Also in Spanish
• Has a redo for previous effect
• Photos can be uploaded to Flickr

I used pixelx. I had a good time playing with all the different options- there were some good texture options and even an oil paint option- I actually created an oil painting of me with my cat that is posted on my blog. Because this was my first experience with digital editing, I really don't have much to compare it to, but I did experience some difficulty with adjusting the color. I also found that my picture quality was really poor compared to how it looks on the little camera screen.

The name of the digital editing software I reviewed is called "Webpictool" and can be accessed at http://www.webpictool.com

When I entered the web site, I was totally shocked as the picture of a half naked woman appeared where you upload your picture by default. Later, I realized that you can choose another picture from the menu on the right but you can imagine my fright using my work computer at UH.

Here are the features I liked about the website.
You can change the language of the website from English to any other 10 languages offered.
It is pretty easy to use and self-explanatory.
The results were quick but I'm not sure if that will be same if you have a dial-up connection.
Every time you made a change to the image, it shows it chronologically on the left side so you can keep track of the changes you made.
It has all the basic editing tools you can expect such as resizing, adding text, cropping, etc and some more fun things such as creating a magazine cover, adding frames or watermark images.

Just for the fun and experience of it, I have tried all of the features it offered to see what they looked like. There is a feature called "mirro" which made me laugh a lot. It creates a mirror image of the picture. It was amazing to see a double of myself. However in my final edited image I used cropping, skin smoothing (wonderful feature!)and I added a frame.

There were three things that caught my attention. First of all, in the basic features you could not adjust the contrast and brightness yourself by using a slider. You click on the plus and minus buttons and it automatically does it for you. So, you do not have much control. Secondly, when you want to add text, there are only eight font types that you can use. Finally, it took me several minutes to find out where to type my text. I clicked "add text" and assumed I'd type on the picture. However, there is a specific box over the picture where you need to enter your text and as you type it appears on your image.

I do not highly recommend this website but overall it was OK.

I evaluated the flauntR website, found at http://www.flauntr.com/. I was impressed with how easy it was to use, and some of the graphics and borders you could easily apply to your photos for free.

In order to use flauntR you have to first upload a picture but it can be from your computer files, or from picasa, flickr, facebook, or the web. I had no problems uploading a photo, and it did not take long at all, but since I was only uploading one photo at a time I could not tell you how long it might be for a large group of photos.

The software allowed you to add borders, graphic images, as well as text to your photos, and you had several nice choices of fonts. Also when adding any of the graphics or text you could reposition, and tilt the graphics any way you pleased on the photo. The software also had a picasR tab which allowed you to choose from a selection of art on the site, and apply similar color schemes to your own photos. FlauntR also had overlays (waterfalls, flames, rain) which could be applied to the picture almost as though adding another layer to your original photo. I could apply distortions and lighting effects to my original photos, and the software offered a lot of choices in all of the special effects you could add. I found the editing tab offered most of the same choices programs you pay for offer including the ability to change the hue, color, saturation, you could freestyle crop or standard crop, and the editing offered even more choices for special effects.
I played with all of the different techniques, and editing possibilities the software provided, and found it to be extremely easy to use, and was just amazed that this kind of software does exist for free.

The other nice thing about flauntR is after you have completed editing your picture, and adding whichever effects you wanted, you are able to post it on a number of popular websites similar to picasa. You can post it to your blog, my space, and facebook accounts to name just a few. You can also send the pictures to mobile phones which I though was a nice feature of the software.

I would use this program in the future and would recommend it to others.

3.Was the program easy to use? The program was very user friendly and I am sure anyone can use it. The program was very easy to upload photos and the editing options are visible and easy to locate.

4.Did you experience any problems using the program? I experienced no problems at all.

5.Would you use this program again and/or would you recommend this program to others? I think this program is great and I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to edit photos efficiently and easy.

6.Do you have any other comments you think would be helpful? I will definitely use this program to edit photo's and other pictures that need to be enhanced. I look forward to using this new program in my classroom with my students as they work on their upcoming History Fair Projects.

I was assigned, to review, Lunapic, http://www.lunapic.com/editor. I was very impressed. It was highly automated and made it very easy for a beginner to realize very nice effects and editing results. If the user has any problems, the program website provides tutorials. It has many of the tools that you find in professional image-editing programs, like Photoshop, and even adds a few features, like certain animation effects, not found in Photoshop. I created a reflecting pool animated .gif, which I posted on the web and it worked nicely. I tried most of the editing tools and they responded well.

There is a maximum canvas size of 1050 x 1050 which is not too bad if you are working with web bound images or have no need to reproduce the image in a super large format. The upload time was not too bad; I uploaded a 1.25 Meg image and I waited about a minute, this will vary with the type of Internet connection you are set up with. The download time was quicker and it was an easy process.

This program is geared to work with many of the social networks like Facebook and MySpace. I can see this as a great tool for that application.

Overall I give the application an A-, it is limited on its fine-tuning tools, however, and the average “Joe” won't notice. OH Yeah, did I mention that this is FREE; you just have to put up with the ads.

* I used The online PicNik program photographer to crop, rotate, resize, exposure, color, sharpen, and redeye my images.

* The program performed better than expected, with a user friendly experience.

* The program was easy to use and I will, and have, used it again. I would recommend this free program for editing images.

I found the Picnik program to a great photo editing tool. You create a free account and photots are saved online for accessibility from any computer. The online PicNik program allows the photographer to crop, rotate, resize, exposure, color, sharpen, and redeye.

I recommend it as a simple and easy to use editing program for beginners, like me.

I checked out Webresizer at www.webresizer.com

The program is designed to aid in resizing images and manipulating the quality of the resized image. I found it be easy to use and will probably use it again in the future if I find the need to resize some images. I resized several photos of my brother and his wife at an Astros game and was able to change the picture quality, contrast, exposure, and color saturation. There is a neat quality comparison that allows you to really see the differences in picture quality. I thought this was easy and did exactly what I expected it to do with no trouble.

Cellsea is a web based imaging processing photo editor software. By web based, we mean that it processes pics at the asp’s server or in the “cloud” as is popular to say now. It has many or most of the lower level image touch-up features such as resize, crop, remove noise, blur, distort, color and lighting correction… eerily similar to Picassa; in fact it’s probably the same software repackaged in some way…as Picassa has a permanent banner ad on their page (they’re most likely related in some way). Cellsea’s photo editor exists small part of a larger suite of web-based programs geared towards cell phone applications (cell phones are their main product, btw). In fact, I am much more impressed with their ring tone creator which is provided at the same site. I should say that it’s less important to talk about what it does do than to point out what it doesn’t. If you’re a fan of photo-shop, don’t bother with this one. It has a limited and low level of functionality for the high level or complex photo manipulation you will demand. It totally lacks the ability to process in RAW as well. Overall, for what it is it’s OK; for what it’s not….. I’ll never use it.
